The Ridgewood News wrote that Mr. Ryan "awed the crowd with his sensitive touch and technical skill."

Mr. Ryan received the Audience Award, the Press Award, and shared the First Prize at the 2001 Concours Les Grands Amateurs de Piano in Paris.
